Mink at Sam Smith Park
on:

Late yesterday afternoon, I saw a mink on the shoreline in Sam Smith Park in Etobicoke. It stayed hidden in the ice most of the time, only giving brief views. It was at the west side of the park on the spit that forms the north side of the harbour entrance.

Hello:
Thanks for the px of the mink. I have not
been to the forum in ages, and so enjoyed it
Have never seen one that close. The feet
look as though they could give a good scratch
Mink can be quite vicious, can they not? Or am I mistaken?

This evening, I watched what was probably the same mink I saw back in February. It was making its way along the shore very close to where I saw it before. It was along the north side of the entrance to the harbour.

The mink in that photo (or one of his close relatives) met his end on Lakeshore Blvd yesterday. As I was crossing the Mimico Creek bridge yesterday morning, I was surprised to see a mink dead in the middle of the road. I don't think I've ever seen as mink as roadkill anywhere before. I always thought they were a bit too clever for that. Apparently not.
