Although not exactly rare, in case you want a pretty much guaranteed sighting - there is one daily at the corner of Coxwell Avenue and Eastern - there is a small apartment building on the north east corner which has a large side/back yard which is freely accessable to the public.

Our local sharp shinned is there pretty much daily - I see it usually 2 to 5 times/day, often sitting menacingly    up in the weeping willow and has a steady diet of pigeons.

Just an FYI

Oh, and here is a link to pics our resident hawk:  http://picasaweb.google.com/liisa05/201 ... irectlink#

This is a cooper's hawk, not a sharpie. A sharpie can't really take down a pigeon, let alone greatly outweigh one like in these pictures. In fact, I think it is a rather large female, it just looks so big. Nice bird anyways!

I stand corrected.    :)

Our resident Coopers had another nice pigeon meal yesterday.  Sitting as plain as day right in front of us.
Merry Christmas...well not for the pigeon.
