A friend of ours spotted this guy on a walk in the woods.  She wasn't nearly as excited as we were with this...  and we only saw the photos.  Wow!  Thought I'd share it here with other Owl admirers.

Very beautiful shot. Love the snow covered tree, adds nicely to the image.

Yep, just total WOW factor here.  Especially for someone just out enjoying the woods and snow, not looking for Owls or anything.

I should add that this was taken in Manitoba last week.  I know this is an Ontario board but thought it would be okay to post this since many of us love to see/know what is out there...  and the fact someone not into such things walked right into him; whereas me, for example, goes out all last winter looking for a Pileated Woodpecker in Lambton and never saw him but so many others did, even people not into birds talked about this massive creature on the side of a tree, just hammering away.  Life is funny like that.

Thanks for sharing Rob.  I know it is an owl that many of us hope to see.  I can't imagine just stumbling on one while out walking :)

I'd be speechless if I just walked into one unexpectedly like that.  Gee, maybe there are some good things in Manitoba?  LOL!
