Practice shots with my new *toy*

My other half that posts on here, Angie'in To, spoiled me rotten this Christmas with a Canon Rebel T1i along with an additional lens for better zooming. I am new to the world of SLRs. But, even as a novice, I can clearly see the difference. I hope to share great pics through the year with yas. Here's a bit of my first practice shots around the backyard. Thanks for looking. Wish me luck. Three cheers to Angie!
Focus was an issue that I need to pay attention to with this Cardinal shot. All those little red dots jumping around.
These two are my fave so far.

Thanks John. Now I won't feel so much like George Costanza when he got out of the pool in the Seinfeld episode when I am out with others and their *equipment*. LOL!

Congrats on the new toy Rob! I am not the expert, but I vaguely remember when I got my camera that I was advised to just keep the centre focus red dot on. Otherwise, the camera is hunting for focus and not always getting it. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can pipe in? Looking forward to seeing your shots - enjoy!

Congrats on the new toy, I remember the day I got my first SLR, what a dramatic difference from a PNS!
