There weren't a lot of waterfowl around Colonel Sam Smith Park this afternoon. The biggest concentration was near the edge of the ice at the harbour entrance. There, close to shore, were at least 7 White-winged Scoters. Along the outer shore were several Horned Grebes.
I noticed a similar lack of waterfowl at Humber Bay East yesterday afternoon. The highlight there was 9 Ruddy Ducks. One of the males was already looking noticeably ruddy on his flanks.
