Caught him late in the day with crappy light hunting by the road.  He did go to ground once but unfortunately he came up empty.  Its hard for these suckers.
Its funny last February on almost the same date i was able to see another barred owl hunting by the road and was able to get some ok pics of him.  I'm wondering if its the same bird.  His nature seems very similar.

Nice.

Pondered trekking out to Halls Road to see this guy.  If no luck, Cranberry Marsh is always a blast with the Chickadees and a few others who hop all over a person with a food offering.

A birth certificate shows we were born.  A death certificate shows we died.  Pictures show we live.

i don't know if its worth the trip out to Halls Rd.
He was there today, but really hidden. Not sure if most people spotted him.
I think the high traffic has yielded unfortunate results.
LOTS of noise from birders (loud talking, someone left 3 dogs in their car today as they went for a walk down the trails)....

Otherwise, around the Halls Rd area today, nothing else but two deer

Hey thanks for the comments.  He has become quite the celebrity.  If he is by the road it is sooo obvious when people drive down the road and there are 5-10 people standing there looking in the woods.

That is really a shame that he has become such a celebrity. I found him completely by chance. We picked a random forest to look through and were shocked to find a Barred.

I really like your shots, especially 4 and 5.
