I come home this afternoon to at least 18 Common Redpolls.  I am taking full advantage of them visiting me temporarily.  And with so many, it gives me opportunity for some close shots without them on the feeder.

I know how you feel Angie .. I hate to leave in the mornings. You've been really lucky to get so many Redpolls. Do the squirrels not try to get at the sock feeder.  My nyger feeder has had Sparrows ALL winter - I'm thinking of changing to a sock feeder. Any thoughts?

It's rare that any Squirrels bother with the nyjer feeders.  A curious baby on occasion in the summer but they learn fast it's an undesirable food source.  I've had so few Sparrows this winter but when they are around, they haven't gone at those feeders either.  I have found that the Red-winged Blackbirds have a taste for the nyjer seed.  And even when I had an upside down feeder for the Goldfinches, the RWBBs would sit on a lower perch and stretch up and around to the next hole above them.

It's been great with this Redpoll visit but I know it's going to end soon.

Glad to see your Redpoll numbers are up. Mine are starting to dwindle from the huge influx over the past few weeks. I will miss them when they go...soon...and may be a few years before we see them again. But at the same time am looking sooo forward to spring and all the newbies on their way
