A pair of Coopers? Sharpies? Scarlet Road

This, well I am assuming, is a pair of Hawks, as in a couple.  They were only a few tree branches apart and the one was making this funny clucking sound at the other one.  Neither cared about my presence either.  If only I could wave my hand and make some branches disappear.  Anyways, the one that was in front of me sure had me thinking Sharp-shin as he wasn't very big.  The other made me question my guess...   :?   No fighting going on and both sat for a good 20 minutes plus while I chatted with a passerby about them and everything else in the area.  The difference on the chests confuses me.

This is the one who was in front of me, not very big of a Hawk, and had me thinking Sharp-shin.

This is the second one, who was a little further back.

Another shot of the second one (who was doing the clucking).  I was facing the sun for this shot, should'a played with the exposure settings a bit, but I just snapped away uncertain how long it'd stay put.

The brown body and chest streaking means the second one is immature - I want to say Cooper's but I'll leave it to the experts. :D

I'd say Cooper's on both. The adult has a very rounded tail and the juvenile has fine streaking on chest and white belly.

Thanks guys!

After some thought last night and a bit of research, now a couple people saying this, I'd go with Coopers as well.

I was half wondering if these were the two that have been going at the Pigeons in my backyard since this was so close to home?

Nice captures.  Did you see my post last week when I had two Cooper's in the same shot ?  One was a male (smaller) and one was a female. I also heard the "sound" and when I looked up .. he was having his way with her!!!  :D  So they were a "couple" and maybe yours were making the "mating calls" too.  The first has very yellow eyes which I think means it's a young one too. Think they are Coopers.

His way with her?  Ooooooop!    Get a room, or a coniferous tree so we don't see that.  Ha ha ha!  Ah, nature, eh.

I missed your post but went and looked for it and commented.
