I spent about an hour at Col. Sam this afternoon - dreary lighting and bad sun angle (and lots of loose dogs, argh!), but the Horned Grebes were friendly and diving within several feet of the shore.




Didn't have enough time/light to try to get them all in focus, but I thought it was a neat molting gradient. (Too bad the two in the background couldn't have switched places! :lol:)



The two Red-necked Grebes nearby were also flirting noisily. :P

Thank you all! :D They were hanging out in the marina, near the nesting area and the big rocks you can hide in front of. :lol:
