Well, I had a rare free Monday, so My first stop was La Salle Marina. Much of the usual, actually it was quieter then usual... There were Red Headed Mergansers and WhiteWinged Scoters closer in than normal and the Towhee was right near the start of the path. There were definitely a reduction in the number of Trumpeter Swans, but there seemed to be a lot more Coots.
Next it was on to Hendrie Valley. There are a ton of RWBB's that show no fear of people at all. I also saw a beaver swimming down the creek. There were a number of Golden-crowned Kinglets about, and a couple of Downy's and a Northern Flicker was a nice surprise.
In the backyard was perhaps the biggest surprised. an Eastern Kingbird was flying around and if I'm not mistaken this is an unusually early sighting for one. Also have 6 Goldfinches, 2 House Finches, RWBB's, a ton of Grackles, Cardinals, Robins (many), Blue Jays, Frisky Mourning Doves, and Still a bunch of Junco's and Tree Sparrows. A number of Song Sparrows, Mallards and circling TV's are new arrivals. Add a Bunny, two Chipmunks, a squirrel and a muskrat and it was a busy day.
