Honestly, the speed at which this obviously highly experienced Hawk dropped down onto open field - school yard - just 30-50 feet away from my window and pounced on on our Robins eating worms was unlike any display I have seen EVER.  Still in absolute shock.  

We have 2 couples of Robins and now 1 is without a mate - what now? will he /she find another?

No birds have been waiting at our fully stocked feeder + for a week , barely* .. now we know + confirmed this guy and his pal have been cruising high up.


I could not watch, and this robin was huge, strong it took the hawk well over 20 min to stop his fight, I only watched this long and the robins tail was still fighting.  Wow. What  a tough Robin.

I can no longer watch this stuff and will probably not report on it again, its just too much ... and this is from someone raised with my dad making homemade sausages + been to many a pork roast + and a full Bull once when a child. that was a sight. roast beef anyone? 24+ hours on open fire / coal spit?

I tried to deter him and yelled from my window , etc... this hawk is obviously brazen & not startled by people. Even this close. Wow. If I could have only taped this flight & catch. unlike any army raptor plane .... nature rules the skies.

Since robins raise 2 or even 3 broods a season, I would guess that your widowed bird will find another mate from among the floaters (unmated birds) that are found in every population.

Funny, and it looks like the lone robin has moved on and the original couple are very weary. . ..... seems like all of the wildlife is on their tippy toes...

Would you say these hawks would take our squirrels?
