Wondering lately when we would see our first Indigo Bunting this year - and there it was this afternoon in our backyard feeding under our feeder.

Totally gob smacked.

Lucky you,  I'm still waiting for ours who usually show up 12-14th of May. I'll keep my eyes peeled in case they are early this year.

Sometimes we see them near the allottment gardens in High Park, but not yet this year.

I am so envious of your sighting of an Indigo Bunting...I have only seen one in my life and it was in my own backyard, mind you that was in 2009 so I still live in hope!!!  Today was the first arrival (in our yard) of a Baltimore Oriole this year...I had to scramble like mad to get the Oriole feeder up and filled...I just put up the hummingbird feeder on the weekend and I think he may have been attracted by it...He did visit all of the other feeders but stayed for a bit to eat at the nijjer/millet feeder.  Hope he comes back tomorrow!!!

finally today the resident indigo bunting has shown up in Glen Williams.

One in Thickson's Woods today high in a poplar tree on the back road.  Regular spring migrant to Thickson's.

A friend of mine lives up in King City and she has four visiting her feeders over the last 3 seasons.  She sees them so often that she has no real excitement for them anymore.  But winter rolls around and she misses them again.

wow, for some reason I never did do any extensive research on them and did not know they were even near Toronto, or Canada ... but a recent commercial for bird feed did mention them so it got me wondering.

I spotted a single Indigo Bunting at the first little stream crossing, while heading south along the inside trail at Lambton Woods this afternoon around 1PM. Such a beautiful bird.
