What a beautiful spring day (finally!). Heard and then saw a nothern mockingbird singing it's 8 or 10 songs in the upper brances of a silver maple and figured a 95% ID and when I finally saw it fly, the white flash on it's wings, made it 100%. Also, a dozen or so tree swallows flitting and gliding around the pond, finished off a great spring day.

Al,

I've seen quite a few of them here in my neighbourhood in the 401/McCowan area of Scarborough.  I'm hoping that they'll be nesting around here somewhere, and I know, eventually, I'll find em!  :D

While taking the subway to school the other day a NM buzzed the train carrying nesting material from the field just to the north of the tracks, just before Kipling station.

Seems like the population is growing...neat!

I was walking along Welland Avenue near the Kemira Company when I heard this wonderful imitator.  I noted several different calls, even something like a robin's song and American Goldfinch cherp.  Looking up into a very large maple tree I spotted the long-tailed fellow.  Had to look it up in my Field Guide to be sure.  First time I had ever seen or heard of them.  It is interesting that I have also spotted chimney swift in the last week too.  One of the other posting noted both in the same area!!!?

We walked the new waterfront trail area at Port Union and Lawrence, and there's a pair of NM's right beside the railway tunnel. This pair is not skittish and gave some very good looks.

A few weeks ago I saw one fly across Bayview Ave. just at Pottery Road.
