For a couple weeks now I have been watching these guys popping up in the field behind my house
this morning I decided to go out and set up to try and get a better shot of one, this is about as close as
I could get before he flew away, not perfect, but better than anything i've gotten before.

I love this bird and we drive up to Carden every year so I can him sing.    :D
Lucky you to have them so close.

Thanks Farmer and Angie, yes they are colorful and the sound beautiful.

No need to go up to Carden just for these Gary, they have been out in the Hydro field
behind our house in Pickering for the last couple of summers. Last year they nested here
and later in the summer they were out there every day with their young, hopefully they are
going to do the same this year.

Lucky you Reg.  I've only seen one from a distance at Carden.  They're a beautiful bird - congrats!

Thanks Moira, yes they are Beautiful birds, they come over just outside my fence in the field all the time
but always down in the grass and hard to photograph, that's why I decided to go out and get them in the trees.

There are nesting Meadowlarks in Rouge Park in Scarborough.  They can be found along the Vista Trail in the field under the Hydro wires less than 10 minutes walk from the park's entrance.  I've seen them there as recently as last weekend.  Also nesting Orchard Orioles too.

Walter

Update: Soon to be Rouge National Park!
