Tonight sitting on my deck enjoying the view of the construction site across the road, I noticed a large bird fly over looked "kildeer like". It seemed much larger and  had a light brown stripe on the bottom side of its wings running their length. The other portions of the bird seemed to be white.  I decided to go for a walk over to the construction area because the builder has created a very large 3 section drainage lagoon hoping to spot it again. Grabbed my camera hopped the fence and started walking.when I got to the lagoon area I noticed directly in front of me an intersesting bird I did not recognize so of course I took a picture of it.  It appears to be a  Horned lark of some sort. Still not the bird I was looking for

I started walking toward the two ducks in the far west lagoon because I could see that  the two in the second were Mallards.  Just then I heard a Screaching sound
a redtail? naw couldn't be. I ignored it  and kept walking. It happened again and across the lagoon a  retail popped out of a tree flew towards the East and screeched 3 more times. Maybe I was to close to home??? I never heard that sound before.......

I thought the that was interesting but I still had them ducks to look at.   I couldn't get close enough to them to get a half decent shot  I did manage  a shot from long distance that I cropped to get  abit closer.  Throught the viewfinder they appeared to be a mergansers, After looking in the guide  the only thing close is a Hooded Merganser?? am i correct.?

Interesting evening, still haven'n figure out the first bird.   I will keep looking
