nice shot,  a good one for your collection..., I saw many hummers at Carleton park into the Jewel weed but my shots were just sitting ones, they did not cooperate with the flying shots

Truth be told, it was just ok.
Lots of waiting, little action.
The higlight, tho, was having a goldfinch land in a branch 4 ft from my head and watching a hummer hover in front of it, back and forth, back and forth, like a pendulum, until the foldfinch felt threatened enough to leave

That is a very pretty photo. I agree with you - the bird-related experiences/sightings/witnessing-of-behaviour is what makes this whole thing worthwhile. And when I say this whole thing I really do mean life itself

I should have joined you but I didn't think it was.going to turn out as nice a day as it did.
I don't know if it'll be your last photo of them this year. There are still lots of them around. And the Jewelweed is in full bloom right now.
