We checked out Earl Bales Park, this evening. (east of Bathurst on Sheppard, go down Don River Road to the parking lot) We saw 22 species. Along with the regulars, there were:
-5 Barn Swallows
-4 Chimney Swifts
-1 Song Sparrow
-Chipping Sparrows
-1 male Black and White Warbler
-1 male Baltimore Oriole, singing
-1 male Wood Duck, I assume the pair is back from last year and I hope they are nesting
-1 Belted Kingfisher
-1 male Rose-breasted Grosbeak, my first of the season
E. Cottontail Rabbits kept startling us as they zipped out of the bushes. I expect more arrivals over the next couple of weeks, including hummingbirds.
