For a suburban backyard, a lot of nice birds show up here (Bathurst/Sheppard area).
Along with the regular House Sparrows, Goldfinches, House Finches, Grackles, Cowbirds, Mourning Doves, Downy Woodpeckers, Chickadees, Red-breasted Nuthatch, and Cardinals, there have been the following over the last few days:
-2 White-crowned, 1 White-throated, 1 Song, and 2 Chipping sparrows
-1 male Red-winged blackbird calling (this is his territory) and a female showing up today
-1 male Baltimore Oriole
-1 male Hairy Woodpecker
-1 female Black and White Warbler
-1 N. Flicker
-1 Cooper's Hawk, high in a neighbour's tree, grooming
-1 female Rose-breasted Grosbeak, sitting on my tube feeder and eating as if she was a regular
- and my bird of today-1 male Ruby-throated Hummingbird, checking out the blossoms on our apple tree
I look forward to seeing what else the stormy weather will bring to our yard.
