I spent 1 hr at SS and 30+ min at HBEast today.

Two fun surprises at Sam Smith:

1. a lone loon was swimming about 100 ft from the main walkway between the boating docks
2. as I drove from the park, I wondered about the kestrel that used to hang around. i suddenly noticed his just north of the leash free dog park. i pulled over and got some spectacular views (and photos, i hope) of it hovering, looking for lunch

Otherwise, your typical water foul at Sam Smith including 2 red necked grebes.

At Humber Bay East, it was relatively quiet. I was surprised to see a kestrel land on top of a tall coniferous tree  for a few minutes.  Six species of water foul were there (no pintail) and, shockingly, they were all in that man-made pond on the west side of that bridge that crosses the stream (the pond beside the other man-made pond where the nerds race their toy boats).  I was shocked to see three hooded mergansers swimming around this little pond.

After you left Richard, I saw a male Canvasback and possible mate out North of the Eastern point and later found the Northern Pintail in the inner bay at Humber Bay West just West of the East car park.
