Glad you posted this - I was hoping for another close look. This is the hybrid I noticed swimming with the Northern Pintail and the Mallards. Does anyone else think this could be a Pintail/Mallard cross?

I would say a  bibbed domestic Mallard.

I second Paul's diagnosis! I know this bird well. Perhaps not intimately, but quite well. He's a good guy and of course the pintail is a treat too...I'm glad you had so much fun with the waterfowl...good beans!

Thanks for the insight! I had never heard of a "bibbed domestic", but now that I've googled it, I see lots of photos of very similar ducks.

Great shot, I love the bibbed ducks, they have a few beautiful ones over at Lambton Woods as well. and 2 over here at Marie Curtis Park. They are one of my favorites to photograph for their coloring.
