We've all been seeing and hearing signs of Spring for a few weeks now. At least I know I have. From male Cardinals and House Finches as early as the last week of January. To the other day when I heard my first Song Sparrow in the park down the street. And this morning two more sure signs of Spring occurred in the backyard. I wasn't sure if I should post this here or the backyard section...
A male House Sparrow has claimed one of our birdhouses today. He's been at it all morning, in and out, or just sitting on the corner of it chirping his head off. This particular house brought a family of Black-capped Chickadees 3 years ago. Last year the House Sparrows took it and raised a family. I wonder if this is the same male from last year?
It's a good thing they cannot read. This might otherwise be an embarrassing choice of home. LOL!
And one of our resident Chipmunks woke up today. Happy I saw him and gave him a hefty offering of Black Oil Sunflower Seed.
