I just read a posting on another board and the first butterflies of the year have been recorded today here in Scarborough.  This afternoon 2 Mourning Cloaks and an Eastern Comma were observed flying in the Bellamy Ravine.

The ravine which is also known as 'Gate Gully' and 'The Doris McCarthy Trail' is located just south of the Bellamy Road/Kingston Road intersection in southern Scarborough.

Also, an Eastern Comma was seen and photographed at Bestview Park in the city's north end today by a friend of mine.

Awesome!

I've only seen little gnats the last few days.

A birth certificate shows we were born.  A death certificate shows we died.  Pictures show we live.

I'm just back from Bestview park but thick cirrus muted the full sun that brings out the 'cloaks and the commas (of course it's perfectly clear now!).  So still no sightings for me but I did have a honeybee outside my door - isn't that a bit early for them?

Btw Walter, do you know where in the park the comma was sighted?

Just back from my favorite spot in Bestview Park. Several eastern commas and lots of mourning cloaks flying and sunning AND lots of people out enjoying the great weather! :)
