I looked for the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher at Ashbridges this morning with no luck. I did spot an Iceland Gull and a Belted Kingfisher, among others.

Tommy Thompson was a sparrow bonanza, with one of each of  White-crowned and Swamp sparrows along with the usual hordes of Song Sparrows and a few American Tree Sparrows and Juncos.

There was an American Woodcock out on the Spit and a couple of Rusty Blackbirds in the baselands, hiding in the undergrowth. A couple each of Phoebes and Tree Swallows, and an American Coot back in the little pond where one spent most of last year. Lots of Canvasbacks, one White-winged Scoter, and a few lingering winter ducks, including two Goldeneyes and two Redheads.

Spent a short Saturday morning just in the baselands - I've never done that before. Saw three of the Rusty's, two Grackles, a Woodcock, two Flickers, two Fox Sparrows, a Swamp Sparrow, a few Song Sparrows, RWB's, Goldfinch, Kinglets and Chickadees, and some sparrows that were too fast to identify.  And lots and lots of cottontail rabbits!  Felt like I was hop hop hopping down the bunny trail!  Also very pleased to run into Leon, the sweetest birder I know.
