Posting photos: uploading attachments vs using web links

Just a quick suggestion to all who are trying to post photos.

I've noticed that a lot of newer posters are posting photos by using the "upload attachment" tab.  I'd politely suggest that, in order to get a better view of your pictures, you look at using a free photo website like Flickr.com or photobucket.com (there are hundreds of them out there) and posting a web link instead.

"Upload attachment" pictures are framed and truncated. Its hard to see the entire picture and you have to use the scroll bar to look at it. in other words: we can't appreciate your picture as much because we can't see the whole thing at once.

When you use a photo website and post the link (for example, Flickr has a code that you cut and paste, with more details here), you see the entire photo.

in the end, the choice is yours. but I'm letting you know that using a web link vs "Upload attachment" would aesthetically be the much preferred choice.

I'm not sure about the dimensions, but I usually recommend saving your pictures at 830 x 500 pixels. that displays well on computer monitors.

I use Flickr and find that a size around 800 x 600 is perfect for this board.

I could use some help.  Sorry for the cluelessness.
Trying to use Flickr.  Have uploaded photos, I think correctly, in that they do show up on Flickr.
Composing a message here, I use the Img button.  Then what exactly does one paste in between the {img} and the {/img}?  (Using different brackets here just so it looks more like text and not code.)
From the share menu on Flickr, I tried the "Grab the link" and that results in a red X and the word "image" in the preview.  Then using the "Grab the HTML/BBCode" just throws a bunch of code into the post.
TIA

I have answered my own question, in case someone else follows this thread and has the same question.  If using the share code from flickr, don't use the image button.  Just paste the share code into the post.
