Greater Yellowlegs @ Leslie Spit

Huge thank you to the two young men who directed me to what they thought was a Lesser Yellowlegs at the Leslie Spit today. By the time I found the bird, a Killdeer had very conveniently joined it on the near shore of cell one (that first big wetland/pond east of the main road). Seeing them together it was very clear that the Yellowlegs was significantly larger than the Killdeer - confirming it as a Greater. Unfortunately I did not see the two men again to share my observation. Also sharing the pond was a Great Egret, a Great Blue Heron and a pair of Canvasbacks.

I too saw the greater yellowlegs and egret and canvasbacks, but missed the g.b. heron. Also: thousands of cormorants. Yikes!

I went on Sunday and saw the Egret, GBH, Canvasbacks and a number of Killdeer (plus Kinglets, Creepers, Song Sparrows, Robins, Tree Swallows and at least one Barn Swallow), but no Yellowlegs for me.
