Sandhill Cranes are a bird I have been looking to photograph for quite a while. I was fortunate enough to get the heads up on this pair. What an amazing sight!!

Thanks everyone for all your very kind comments. Much appreciated.
It was a thrill to see these birds so close.
I will have to make a return trip and hope for a few shots of the Colts.

I love these! I do! Particularly the pastoral shot of the saucy-looking crane...
Is there any chance you'll share the location?

Nice shots of a beautiful bird Meghan.  I really like the second one.  The colts are gorgeous when they cuddle in on mom's back.

Thanks Steve. Of course I managed to get a house in the background. I always do that. Note to self, learn how to clone

Only one of the eggs has hatched but the young one is doing well so far. And I am told it's super cute!!

No way David, knowing you, you'll try to run out in the lake and hug them....

Thanks again everyone.

What a great find Meghan, just outstanding shots. I only see them when they fly over me. Hope to get a few this year as well.
