Hi everyone.  My mom was visiting this morning so we went for a walk at Maplewood Park from 10-11am.  2 gentlemen photographers picked perfect timing to walk in from Glen Erin Dr. to find the Cooper's Hawks as my mom & I were looking at the hawks through binoculars at the time.  :D  Had a lengthy and interesting conversation with these 2 men visiting from Scarborough.  Photographer #1 let us take a look through his camera with HUGE lens at the female hawk in nest ... OMG, felt like my eyeballs were sitting on the nest edge - could see the female's tail feathers and down so close!  Wow!   :D  Photographer #2 showed us a photo of Red-headed Woodpecker from Turney Woods.  He was also using a HUGE lens.  Truly spectacular!

Then the male Cooper's Hawk made an appearance and was flying silently through the woods, stopping to perch on various tree branches.  He finally perched on a tree branch close to the nest and close to the walking trail, spent lots of time preening himself.

Other sightings:

Cardinals x 2 (1m, 1f)
House Sparrows - lots
Red-breasted Nuthatch x 1 (male)
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker x 1 (male)

Maplewood Park:  East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.
