I spent some time in Mississauga's Meadow Wood Park (a small park between Rattray Marsh and Petro Canada grounds) looking for the long eared owl that I saw earlier last week.
No luck with the owl, but the highlight of the weekend was a trumpeter swan (tagged C24) on the lake very close to the shore. Also many common golden eyes, greater & lesser scaups, buffleheads, redheads, countless mallards, american wigeon and a few mute swans. In the northern section of the park I saw 5 or 6 blue jays, over 15 cedar wax wings sharing a tree, many black capped chickadees, at least 5 downy woodpeckers, one juvenile red-tailed hawk and several goldfinches.
