Hey Mike, I saw your site and it's great that you're into birding at your age! I've seen the kestrel hovering around several places in the park, but usually after the red footbridge over any of the open areas or perched nearby. Along the road out to the footbridge there is often a Northern Shrike perched in one of the trees as well, and while he'll probably be heading back north soon, he was still there yesterday. He's not technically in the raptor family but a wicked little carnivore nonetheless. I personally have pretty crummy luck with the LEOWs, but check the wooded areas out to each of the points and the denser brush before the bridge. Good luck!
