There was a single Purple Martin flying above the allotment gardens just north of the Leslie Street Spit yesterday evening at about six o'clock. I don't think I've ever seen one there or on the Spit itself before, though they must come by in migration. Just as an aside, this has been a very good nesting season for the tree swallows in the allotment gardens, with most of the nesting boxes hosting a mated pair.

I had three there this morning at around 6 am - a female perched on one of the martin boxes, and a pair flying around.
