I recently spent a few days camping with my family at MacGregor Point Provincial Point. There was not a lot of wildlife to see there but there were a few things of note:

(1) Absolutely no white tailed deer -- I think it's the only place in Ontario where there are no deer lol. No sightings...no scat.

(2) Raccoons there have to be as smart as Tranna Coons...I turned my back for a few minutes and one unfastened the lid to the tote containing our dry food and was able to escape with a large bag of marshmallows into the bush...and then sat there saucily munching on them knowing I was unable to retrieve our marshamallows.

(3) Apparently a black bear made it's residence in the park for a few days in mid July.

(4) Saw some Great Egrets -- stunning looking birds...even got to view one side by side with a GBH

(5) The board at the visitor centre logged wildlife sightings -- someone apparently saw a bigfoot in the park.

(6) One evening we saw some HUGE bats....anyone know what species they would have in the park ?

My husband and I were at Macgregor also, from Tues to today.  We saw 3 deer, two Wed evening, doe and this year fawn and the other one Sat. morning.  Birding was, as Axeman says, Ok, heard screech owls calling one nite, woke up  Sat. to Pileated drumming and calling.  Bestbird of the trip for me was Sandhill Cranes up the Bruce near Tobermory Sat.  3 kingfishers on Tower trail in marsh, ruff grouse, but no takers for the peanuts and BSF I put out.  We were in Huron/Hawk campground.  Nice park.   Did not see bigfoot or the bats!!!!!!!!!

For the bat, my guess would be Big Brown Bat, I think it's the biggest one and it's fairly common.

@ THOUC: They looked like pterodactyls.

I read MacGregor Provincial Park is nice.  Check out the Ontario Sasquatch Research website.  There have been some incidents not far from that area.  Other good websites for Bigfoot are Oregon Bigfoot and the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization.

Actually KP, I have checked out those sites....there was supposedly a sighting in Dundalk...while I wanna be a believer, those sightings don't help lol...

Check out a show called Searching for Bigfoot on Animal Planet. Matt Moneymaker and his crew encounter more bigfoots..er...bigfeet...than anyone on the planet. The fact that Matt's a lawyer too doesn't help either lol.....I like the show though.
