Chimney Swift roosts

Two nights ago I watched thirty chimney swifts drop into a church chimney in downtown Toronto and yesterday I saw 50+ feeding over the north east corner of High Park, along with 8-10 nighthawks. Where are others seeing swifts this week? I'm with the Toronto SwiftWatch program. We're a group of volunteers gathering data for Bird Studies Canada and we're hoping to identify as many roosting chimneys as possible before the swifts leave for the season. I really hope you can help but please don't post specific locations of roosting chimneys. Just send me a message! The birds are threatened and rely on a shrinking number of open, old brick chimneys. Anything else is great to share though.

Please contact me if you would like to help. Outside Toronto, contact Kathy Jones at Bird Studies Canada, volunteer@birdscanada.org.

Have you seen a roost? Please email me at rebecca.torontoswifts@gmail.com but don\'t post the location! This species is threatened and relies on urban habitat.
