Hello Everyone,
I'm an education instructor at Downsview Park. I just wanted to let everyone know that this Saturday, December 15th from 2:00-4:00 there will be a free CBC4kids program at Downsview Park. We are partnering with Bird Studies Canada for this program so there will be some guided walks lead through the park, followed by some celebratory hot chocolate! This event is a great citizen science project and allows scientists to take an impressive snap shot of wild bird populations around the world, essential for efficient conservation efforts. This is also an opportunity to introduce people to the wonderful world of birding. If anyone is able to come out and share their knowledge it would be very much appreciated and would help to ensure this program's success. More information on this program can be found at

If you would like to be informed about future education events or you have any questions please send me an email at
jdeshman@downsviewpark.ca On a short walk today I saw,
1 Northern mocking Bird
5 Red tailed hawks
7 American Kestrels
15 Canada Geese
x Sea Gulls
x European Starlings
We have been seeing a Barred owl recently in the park and last year we had three Snowy owls, no sign of them yet this year.
I hope to see you on Saturday,
Jonny
