This was around 5pm today.  I went looking for the Short-Eared Owls and what do I stumble upon?  This Coyote.  When he saw me, he ran right away and I actually had to run after him a bit to get any kind of angle...then I zoomed in 50x (1200mm) with my new Canon (not SLR) and managed to get this shot of him.  He just kept running and couldn't get any more pics.  But much better than my previous camera.  Fast zoom, fast focus...relatively clear at such a distance...he must have been at least 200m away.

Is it just me or does it look a bit wolfy?

great capture and I tend to agree with the previous post esp the CBC story, when compared to the one I shot this week in Scarborough yours at the very least appears much more healthier and the tail espically so much more bushy than the one I photographed. Any luck on the short Eared when I came across them it was pure luck and almost walked on them before they took flight.

Yeah

I've seen at least two Coyote's or whatever they are at Downsview over the last few years.
One is extremely large and bushy looking. The other was quite slim and looked like it
had some sort of skin disorder(mange).

They access the airfield area to hunt mice Groundhogs etc. no shortage food.

The Coyote's in the past have been  a hazard to flight operations.

I think they are coyotes....coyotes have thick winter coats making them seem larger than they are...I question how the film maker was able to tell.
