Checked again today for the Western Grebe and Harlequin at Samuel Smith park but instead found this little guy..most likely a Horned Grebe..don't think it's an Eared Grebe.  Pics were taken in a bit of a rush because of the time of day and I still had to check for the Western Grebe so I took a few pics from afar and kept going.  In retrospect I should have focused on him a bit more and get some decent shots.

Also got a good pic of an American Coot out on the ice with his sexy feet:

And a Mute Swan looked all fluffed up for some reason and it looked kinda cool:

Passed by today to look for the Western Grebe but no luck.  Instead I found this guy ... the Red-Necked Grebe...a new species for me.  Spent a bit more time photographing this one so the pics are a bit better.

Great catch!  I was there a few days ago and did not see any of the Grebes... and I looked hard!  Congrats

Thanks Palo.  I went back today to look for the fabled Western Grebe and Harlequin but no luck.  Instead I was presented with the opportunity to atone myself for the original Horned Grebe pictures in my original post.  Hopefully these will be much better enjoyed:

You got some nice shots of my favorite Grebe..I love the Horned Grebes, second only to the Pied-Billed Grebe and they only win because they always smile for the camera.
Wait till this guy starts to look pretty for the Spring, then you can really appreciate their colours.
They really are beautiful...Richard calls them Zombie Ducks..seems a bit fitting.
