I had always thought that the sandpipers flying from the Bay of Fundy down to Venezuela had a long way to go. But, it seems that a Bar-tailed Godwit has just been recorded flying about 11,500 km non-stop.

An amazing story. Maybe that helps explain why we see so few in migration.
