Nice catch! Speaking of arrivals, My in-laws just arrived from Buena Aires and said that they see this same birds down there.  I've got to get a better shots of these... Can't get close. :(

Oh nice.  Visitors are always fun.  My old man tells me that back in the old country farmers kept Swallows and Swifts to help with the insects & flies.

And yeah they're tricky.  Try to stand near a birdhouse (but not too close or you'll get dive-bombed) and just be patient.  Become part of the environment...soon enough they'll even pose for you.

I think everyone has a story about swallows and swifts from their parents -my father too said that they waited for the swallows to return and that was their official sign of spring, they also sang songs about little swallows and referred to pretty ladies as "my little swallow", interesting how birds are referenced in different cultures.
