2 or 3 years ago i built a birds nest hoping to attract purple martins which turned out to be tree swallows, which is OK with me. Every year a pair of birds returns in the spring, mates, raises a family and then disappears sometime in mid summer. I love to watch these birds fly in the field behind my yard and then swoop in and land on the perch to feed their family. They make good neighbours and share my yard with little fuss or muss.
Does anyone know more about these birds (where they come from, where they go, etc...) or can point me to a source to learn more?
