I've found Screeches in cavities or tucked in deep behind branches but this was the first time I have seen one sitting out in the open.

What a great picture, you were either very lucky, very patient or both.  I finally got my motorcycle out and on the road so it might be a few days before I get my camera back out again.  I would bring it with me but I would probably just scare all the birds away and spoil it for everyone else.
