I visited Korea in December 2012.  Here are a few snapshots.  All were taken in the Seoul area.

This guy was probably 400m away but still big and distinctive enough to be ID'd.  On the Han River at Paldang.

That's awesome.  I always get a kick out of seeing some of these exotic species.  I hope to see some interesting species in Romania and Hungary this summer ...don't really know what to expect.

Hungary is fantastic for birding.  I live by the mountains along the danube river and the bird life is amazing

That's sad but I hope Hungary and Romania do not partake in these activities, or at least on those kinds of scales.  I know that some men in Romania hunt wild boar, bears or some common game birds like pheasants or what not, but just thoughtlessly shooting at any and all birds is not something I'm familiar with in those two countries.  I'll try to do some investigating while I'm there.  

I mean the stuff described in that article just reeks of ignorance and stupidity, which considering we're talking about Southern Europe and neighbouring Northern Africa(not Central Europe), is not all that surprising.  These places are not known for their enlightenment.

It's even more pathetic considering that many Northern African countries are Islamic and Islam takes a strong stance against animal abuse.  Muhammed reportedly said that "There is no man who kills [even] a sparrow or anything smaller, without its deserving it, but God will question him about it [on the judgment day], and whoever is kind to the creatures of God is kind to himself."  He even said that "Whoever shoots at a living creature for sport is cursed."
