Also, This morning  I noticed many groups of grackles, Redwinged black birds heading south.

The winter juncos have been back at my place since October 9.  I live on Brock Road about half way between Hamilton and Guelph.

I have  read the reports from  the Toronto  Islands and from ontbirds about them being back.

Last year was the first time they have overwintered here.. in and around my yard..

Napper:))

p.s. if I recall I didn't see them in force until Early December...(last year)

We've had juncos back in our backyard since last week. The white throats came about the same time. Nuthatches and chickadees have also started to show up.

Strange...I've had them at my place pretty much year round...just a little south of Owen Sound....or is that far enough north for them to stay year 'round?

The bird that depresses me the most? The American Tree Sparrow...not because its American but b/c its aka The Winter Chippy....sigh...can't escape snow once you've seen them...the kiss of winter....
