I had just finished shooting a Common Yellowthroat when I saw this sitting about 20-30 feet off the ground in the same tree on the opposite side. I didn't know that Groundhogs could climb.
Then again they say necessity is the Mother of Invention... and just as i came down this path I saw someone putting a leash back on their fairly large dog...maybe this Groundhog took a leap in evolution very quickly.  :) Anyone else ever hear of a climbing Groundhog??
(originally said Muskrat but thouc assisted with the correction)

Most animals can climb up, not all of them are very good at climbing down.

Sometimes you need a little help to get the best shot.

I think you've got a Treehog (or whatever you call a Groundhog in a tree). It has a hairy tail (muskrats have bare tails).
