We were quite fortunate to be invited to a release of five young Red Fox late Sunday afternoon.  Seems mom abandoned her babies due to a new development site that started up west of Hamilton where her den was.

Here's a link if you'd like to see more...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE6vk9pf ... e=youtu.be

It was an amazing experience, despite the kooky weather of on and off again rain showers, being in a really muddy farm field.  It's great these wildlife rehab centres exist; and they all need our help with donations to care for all the animals that come into their centres.

It was a great moment for sure.

I situated myself about 50 ft from the carriers and waited.  We figured they were going to go a certain way and I was going to try and catch the action on the sidelines.  But no, every one of them, a minute or two after each other, ran in my direction.  3 passed right by me, so close I could touch them (but didn't) and then turned right behind me into a wooded area.  The last two, cut into the same woods right in front of me.  They were so close to me at the turning point, I couldn't get them with my 500mm lens and NO zoom.

A kind farm owner let them be released on his farm, somewhere in the middle of it all.  A huge chunk of land and no roads for miles in any direction.

Hope they all do well.
