Just returned home from 10 days on Grand Manan with my kids. What a beautiful island! There was some great birding to be had right from the deck of our small cabin, but we also treated ourselves to a tour of Machias Seal Island to see the Puffin colony as well as some Whale Watching/Pelagic birding. Grand Manan is a small, quiet island in the Bay of Fundy, just an hour and a half ferry ride from Black's Harbour. A bit too icy for swimming, but great birding, hiking and beach combing. I also found it to be very reasonably priced. If you ever have the chance, I highly recommend it! Most of you know I'm not a photographer, but here are a few shots from our little adventure anyway.
