I visited Humber Bay Park East this afternoon hoping to find the Pied-billed Grebe reported last week. I quickly found it, then scanning the rest of the waterfowl, I found a second one. A shrike came by while I was watching them.
I spotted a few Ruddy Ducks in the bay. When I got to the eastern headland, there was a flock of 60 close to shore, making 65 all together. That's by far the largest flock I've ever seen there at any time of year.
Other unusual sightings were a Glaucous Gull and 10 Great Black-backed Gulls. Gulls in general were pretty scarce and they were the most numerous species. That doesn't happen often!
