I love the hawk, not often they will sit still when you are close.  Of course the female cardinal is wonderful, I must have 1000 great cardinal pictures now and I still take more every time I see one, hoping one day for the perfect shot.

Sometimes you need a little help to get the best shot.

Are you a Hawk whisperer? How close did you get to take this beautiful shot? Well done.

Frozen fingers?? Come on, it is so worth it!! Look at the RTH..beautiful, and the detail in the feathers of the Cardinal is super.
Maybe next time someone will dress a bit more appropriately hmmm
Glad you toughed it out Bobo..you got some awesome images.

Thanks Meghan.

You know me, not one to give up easily. But.... I was stupid not to have geared up properly.

That's awesome, how close did you get this shot? I tried a number of times, but they just go away.
BTW, I am looking for your wonderful snowy shot :-)

Thanks Jim.

He was not far, maybe 30-40 feet. Seemed to be comfortable with people around as there were other people there. But took off about a minute or 2 later.

Snowy - thanks, I hope to get some soon if lucky, but with these guys I am never lucky. Anything similar to what you got and I would be over the moon.

I am pretty sure you can get some wonderful shots, I had at most 1 hour each time when I was there.
And don't be too close to them even if you can. You know that, if they start to fly, you don't have time to move your lens. :-)

Thanks for the tip. Yes I know that, my plan is to do it similar to what you did - 30m or thereabouts.
