Hi everyone,
Today I was out at Col. Sam. Smith Park and Humber Bay East. Here's what I saw,

My birding day started at 9:30 am when I saw a Red Tailed Hawk perched on the top of a building at Bathurst and Queen.
Arrived at Sam Smith at 10:00 am and saw:
-2 American Kestrels
-Mallards, canada geese, gadwalls, mute swans, buffleheads, goldeneyes...the usual common species
***1 horned Grebe (picture below)
-Northern Mockingbird
-Red breasted Merganser
Mink tracks! (but, alas, no Mink)
and possibly 1 Peregrine Falcon... I did not see it well.... it was scared off by an unleashed dog (big surprise) and went below the tree line before I was sure...

At 1:15 I left Sam Smith and arrived at Humber Bay East by 2:00 pm. Other Species Include:
-Trumpeter Swans - 2 adults, 2 cygnets (1 of the adults has the same tag number as the one I saw a few days ago at Ashbridge's)
-~10 common mergansers
-a beaver (near the beaver lodge, not surprisingly)
-great blue heron
***Greater Black Backed Gull (picture)
***Glaucous Gull (Picture)--------for those interested I spotted it among the throng of ring bills along the lakeshore, just east of the white bridge where the humber meets lake Ontario (where the concrete breakwater starts) maybe 50 meters east of the bridge...
-Northern Shovelers
-A group of ~20 Redhead ducks
-1 American wigeon

I left at ~4:00 pm....
