This winter there were a number of beautiful ducks at Harrison Park, Owen Sound.
Golden Eyes, Buffleheads,Mergansers and Longtailed ducks as well as a single Ruen overwintered in the open water of the Sydenham River where it flows through the park. In addition to this there are many commoner ducks- Mallards, and Black Ducks that feed on the grain fed to captive birds in the Bird display. It is truly a beautiful place to visit, hike, snowshoe, skate and enjoy nature at its finest.

Nice sightings. What is a Ruen?

A Ruen is an oversized Mallard. It has similar markings, but is approximately 30- 50% larger. I hope I have the spelling correct. The bird guy at the park told me the name.
