Sam Smiths park was somehow made brighter today by a solitary Song Sparrow throwing his head back in song, spot 'n all.
The day was marred however by a camo-clad Troglodyte yute firing missiles from his hunting catapault at a Canada Goose tripping gingerly on the ice. Upon being challenged he lustily denied his transgression. He loudly denied the epithet "Idiot" we hurled at him.
25 birds in total, including a Horned Grebe in winter colours among the noisy Red-necked Grebes and White-winged Scoters. Not bad for a gloomy afternoon.

I hoped your Troglodyte was a wren... (House Wren and Winter Wren belong to the genus Troglodytes)
