Warbler Neck?  That lovely kink you get in your neck from staring up into the trees for extended periods of time. Lots of fun.

ah yes, and the subsequent flies that end up in your mouth from looking up with the jaw agape.

add a chestnut to your list. didn't see much else exciting, but he was in the trees near the path that runs right against the water. and a towhee.

nkwali, did I run into you?  I was birding with Brian Stahls this morning from 7-9 or so and had one heck of a day.  Managed to add six life birds on the day, something I have not done since I was about twelve, though granted four were expected species that I failed to tick last year after I moved.  Here's the breakdown, with arrivals in bold.

Warblers (12 species) - overall numbers low but lots of variety:  Yellow-rumped (10-15), Nashville (6), Yellow (5), Magnolia (3), Chestnut-sided (1), B&W (1), Black-throated Green (1), Black-throated Blue (1), Palm (1), Tennessee (1), Bay-breasted (1), Orange-crowned!!!!!!  (1)  - my most sought after bird for years

Note the Tennessee was heard singing in the trees adjacent to the ballfield at Coxwell & Eastern, not in the park itself.

Others (and there's a lot)

Clay-colored Sparrow (1) - near the parking lot
Warbling Vireo (3+)
Red-eyed Vireo (1)
Blue-headed Vireo (2)
Catbird (2)
Baltimore Oriole (everywhere)
Orchard Oriole (2)
Veery (1)
Black-crowned Night Heron (1) - flyover
Rose-breasted Grosbeak (1)
Towhee (1)

Awesome, awesome day that not even sniping back and forth with a dog walker could ruin.  Hope that those of you participating in the bird festival at the spit are having similar luck!  :)

Hi Doug

I don't think we've crossed paths formally yet. I usually carry a green & black backpack.
Glad to see you got some lifers.
This is the first year in a long time that I've been in the city for the migration, so most of the birds I'm seeing are lifers for me.

Uneventful morning today, at least as compared to the last couple of days.  Most of the same as previously reported, plus the arrival of a Redstart and a Wilson's.  No Clay-colored Sparrow, but the Orange-crowned Warbler is still hanging about.
